Welcome! My Introduction

Hello! Thank you for stopping by.  I wanted to do a short introduction to what this space is all about....   I was raised to never be wasteful.  My grandmother was born right in the middle of the great depression so this tradition has carried on throughout my family.  I have so many ideas and tips and wanted to share them with everyone, hoping that people will use these ideas, and do them better than me!

I love the "teach a man to fish" idea 🐟.  I believe learning how to do something yourself not only gives you new skills and gets you off the couch, but can come in handy in a lot of situations.  There was a time that I was afraid of picking up a tool, but after I moved out into the real world and realized how much everything actually cost, I quickly bought my 1st hammer.  With that hammer, I attempted my 1st try at hanging a fairly large picture and quickly failed because I was not aware I needed to find the studs.  This was in 1999, and the internet was still pretty new at that time.  Just starting out on my own, there was no way I could afford that luxury.  I called my aunt on my non wireless telephone and had her walk me through, step by step, banging on my wall to hear the difference in the "boom, boom, boom", until I found it.  It's what I like to call a prehistoric version of YouTube, with no video of course!

I refuse to pay someone to do something that I can do myself.  The cost associated with any home repair or remodel is astronomical when you think about it, and quite frankly a rip-off.  I like my money right where it belongs.... in my pocket!  Any repair that I come across, with the exception of automotive 😉 I first attempt to fix it myself and the same goes for any projects within my home.  In this blog, I would love to build a community of folks that would love to share DIY ideas & tips, creative ways to turn trash into treasure, prepping for disaster, and self-sustaining.  Please join me, and feel free to email me with any awesome DIY projects of your own, even the bloopers!  I look forward to hearing from all of you and I hope you enjoy!
